This assignment is worth 15 points and will be due October 20, 2008. So, continuing on from Assignment #3, complete the following:
1) Check out this article:
http://www.bts.gov/publications/omnistats/volume_03_issue_04/html/entire.html
2) Let's say you are an "average" American based on that article. How many total miles are spent driving to work in one week (remember you drive TO and FROM work each day)?
3) Now, if you are like a typical American, you are doing more driving than just to work and back. In an average week, I drive around 350 miles per week! Use this equation, 350/mpg x P = T (mpg = whatever your car's mpg is, P = local gas price, T = total cost) to find out how much you will spend on gas in one week. Bonus - could you write an equation to find out how much you spend on gas in one month?
And finally, if you didn't originally chose a hybrid car, are you interested in one now??!! If so, check this out: http://www.hybridcars.com/ and let me know what you think! ...And kudos to ones who already did! :)
